Plastixx is the PIE – Plastic Information Europe polymer price index. It represents polymer price developments in Western Europe. Plastixx is the name of the PIE polymer price index introduced in June 2005. This index mirrors the price development of plastics in western Europe. The calculations are made monthly on the basis of the market prices for standard thermoplastics and engineering thermoplastics determined and published by PIE. We offer daily updated business news and reports, in-depth market analysis, polymer prices and other services for the international plastics industry, including a suppliers guide, career opportunities, a trade name directory and videos. The price of plastic waste depends, on one hand, on the supply and demand of plastic waste material, and, on the other hand, on the crude oil price, which strongly influences the price of the virgin (primary) material. The indicator (turquoise line) shows an increase in the price of plastic waste between 2004 and 2007 to levels above 365 €/tonne.
